Day 1 -2
Arrive Auckland International Airport. I personally meet all my clients, regardless of time or day of arrival and then deliver you to your 4+ star accommodation in central Auckland, New Zealands largest city. After settling you in we leave you to relax and unwind or enjoy one of the many activities we can recommend. The rest of the first day, and the next full day are yours to relax and unwind, and activities are only limited by your energy levels. Simon is available 24/7 to assist you with anything you may need.
Day 3-7
Drive 3 hours south to Lake Taupo in the central North Island and transfer to our private charter light aeroplane or helicopter to transfer into the exclusive Tangahoe Station hunting area, a privately owned, private access only farm, completely isolated and based in the rugged and scenic Whanganui National Park – our home for the next 4 nights. Nestled on the farm is a comfortable hunting lodge, complete with all comforts. The area boasts large numbers of Fallow and Red Deer with many trophies having come from this area. See our gallery for more photos from this area and the lodge itself. There are also large numbers of wild pigs and goats for variety. The next 4 nights are spent at this wilderness retreat enjoying hunting at your own pace. Enjoy a leisurely hunt for a couple of hours every day, or hunt until you can’t walk anymore, we are ready for anything. Clay bird shooting is also available. All shot animals are butchered and packaged for you. See our google map to see just how remote and wild this area is. Access is helicopter or plane only – unless you want a 4 day walk!!!! Again, this choice of area is part of our efforts to obtain only the best genuine areas for our clients to hunt and stay. All meals are provided and are of top quality and genuine Kiwi cuisine. On the last day (day 7 ) we are picked up, again by plane or chopper, and flown back to Taupo. After lunch we then drive back to Auckland where you are delivered to your accommodation for the night.
Day 8-9
This is your time to quite literally do what you want, when you want around the Auckland area – explore the area at your own pace and all the exciting activities on offer. We appreciate that after your original flight, and then 7 days of excitement, you may be feeling like a rest! Again, Simon and Katya are available 24/7 for any requirement you may have and are more than happy to show you around, or help you plan your leisure time in Auckland
Day 10
Drive to Te Awamutu, where we spend the evening possum and rabbit/hare shooting. This is done at night time with spotlights and small caliber rifles. Both rabbits and possums were introduced into NZ for fur/meat, and have now thrived to pest status. Farmers are usually grateful to get rid of them! That evening we stay at fantastic rural accommodation enjoying the finest Kiwi cuisine after our evenings shooting. The next day we spend pheasant shooting with shotguns. The mighty pheasant is a wily and crafty adversary – and delicious eating too! We generally stalk the pheasants in open country with specially trained retriever dogs. Guns are quality 12guage shotguns. The action can be intense with birds exploding out of the scrub at your very feet. Late in the afternoon we travel a short distance to Te Kuiti, our base for the next 2 days pig Hunting action.
Day 11
Awaking early in Te Kuiti we have a good breakfast then prepare for pig hunting with dogs specially trained for the job. This is adrenalin plus. We follow the dogs through a variety of terrains as they attempt to sniff out our quarry, the Captain Cook Pig. When the dogs get the scent get ready to run! The dogs are specially trained to locate and hold the Pig, to enable us time to arrive and ‘finish’ the job.
After an exciting days hunting we promise you’ll be knackered, and after a good meal and some fine NZ wines, an early night is usually had by all.
Day 12
We again start bright and early, and after the nessacary breakfast we head again into the bush after pigs. After a full day the day before, this day we only hunt the morning. Early afternoon we drive back to Auckland, on the way stopping at the world famous Waitomo Cave system. Included in your package tour price is the choice of a walking cave tour, or a blackwater raft tour, and exciting way to see the cave systems as you float through gentle underwater rivers on inflated tubes. The rest of the afternoon is spent driving you back to your Auckland Hotel accommodation
Day 13
This is your last full day of your holiday, and we allow you this time to rest and spend as you wish. As always, we are available to help with any request you may have.
