Travel
Prices quoted by Fish and Hunt NZ do not include your travel to and from Auckland, New Zealand, which will be your arrival and exit port from New Zeland. We have close relationships with several reputable international travel agencies, and are happy to provide a quote for you as part of our service. The NZ Customs website has regulations on what you can and can't bring into NZ.
Language
New Zealand has two recognized languages, English, and our native tongue, Maori. NZ enjoys large populations of foreigners and immigrants, so that all tastes and languages are catered for. Translators are available upon request but not included in the package price. Simon speaks English, and ‘poor’ Russian, however his wife Katya takes care of all East European booking inquiries.
Climate
NZ has a sub tropical climate, that varies significantly dependant on location and season. For northern parts of NZ, summer temperatures are around 22-28, and winter 5-15. Summer in the South Island is again predominantly 20-28, but colder in the winter being 0 – 10. Nightime temperatures in winter below 0 are not uncommon in the South Island
Clothing
Our tours are outdoor tours, and accordingly we recommend modern fabrics, light in weight with excellent insulation qualities. Some access is by helicopter only, so we ask that you consider weight when packing. We also prefer soft cargo style bags for ease of handling and stowing, but we can also provide these free of charge whilst in NZ. Sleeping bags are not required. Decent rain protection should be included. If hunting, we ask that your choice of clothes includes quiet clothes suitable for stalking. Laundry service will be available at most places we stay. We suggest you bring a decent set of footwear, that you have worn previously and are comfortable in. A sun hat or cap is also recommended. Shorts will probably not be required for winter ( but swimsuits will possibly be required for the hot pools!) but will be required for summer.
Own fishing and hunting gear
Fish and Hunt NZ provides all fishing and hunting gear as part of our package. Our equipment is quality equipment. Fishing gear is Shimano and Penn, and rifles are Browning and Remington. We do not cut corners when it comes to equipment. We always carry safety gear and first aid equipment, in addition to GPS and locator beacons wherever we go. Departing from your own country with any firearms or fishing gear is your responsibility. FHNZ however assist with customs clearance of your firearms and licencing upon arrival. We recommend and advise that you utilize our quality equipment, to avoid any travel problems or damage. See the NZ Police website for information on bringing firearms into NZ.
Immigration/visas
Everybody needs a visa to entering NZ. Visit the NZ Immigration website to see the visa requirements that apply to your nationality. Fish and Hunt NZ will provide written invitation prior to payment of deposit to assist with your visa process, we can also recommend several companies that can assist with any visa requirements you may have. Visas are generally not an issue with invitation from our company for any nationality.
Money/exchange
There are many international banks and options for money exchange. Most major currencies are recognized and able to be converted to local currency. Local currency rates can be found at. Simon will take you to a bank if required at anytime you desire. Most place accept visa, and banks and ATM’s are widespread.
Cuisine/alcohol
We like to impress, so give us feedback on your culinary preferences. Most packages include meals at some stage. All other meals are available form a huge choice of fantastic cafes and restaurants. Alcohol of all types and international brands is widely available
Accommodation
Our accommodation is hand picked and previously inspected to ensure quality for our guests. All bedding is supplied. If it is your preference to have hotel suites with cooking facilities then please advise at the time of booking
Extending your stay
Extending your stay is no problem, please enquire when booking. Extending your stay once in NZ and your holiday has commenced is subject to availability and your visa conditions, but is not usually a problem. Unless specified, extensions of holidays are not included in any pre quoted package price.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that you obtain travel insurance covering all injury, loss, and delay prior to your departure. We are happy to assist with this process, please enquire. Fish and Hunt NZ carries full public liability insurance.

See our Optional Extras page for some of the many extra activities New Zealand has to offer. The majority of these can be included in most of our packages upon request no problems at all, we do however appreciate as much notice as possible. Please advise, so that we can arrange and quote.
